There is no doubt that the main being interested in the lack of conscience about men’s current, and bad acts in the future, is Satan. The devil makes use of all of his cunning and deceit to hide God’s judgment to men; but he knows that God’s judgment is as real as the air we breathe. The Bible is filled with all of these warnings in order to make men understand that their evil and perversity, will not remain unpunished in the eyes of our eternal God, whose attribute is being just, and that “…he does not leave the guilty unpunished…” (Num 14:18, NIV).
Since the Garden of Eden, Satan deceived men by making them believe that they can disobey without any consequences for the sin committed. Unfortunately, men have believed the devil, and many others believe that they can sin and disobey God, transgressing the principles that were established by God to his creature in relation to him and men.
Humanity misinterprets God’s patience and mercy, since the Lord “…is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance” (2 Pt 3:9). And so, they may convert from their evil works and give way to the conversion out of darkness into his wonderful light. Let us not be deceived by Satan, by making us think that God is love and only love, let us read that also “…our God is a consuming fire” (Heb 12:29). Evidently, this is for the sinner, perverse, evil, and corrupt.
It is good for men to meditate in their way, and to do what they hear in God’s scripture, and use it as a measure and model to follow. In his great love, God prepared laws and ethical principles that were to rule the life and conduct of human beings. He took the time to write them down and gave them to Moses with the hope to always keep among men: justice and equity. He also inspired and filled many others with his Holy Spirit, to teach and write down the message for posterity; to such an extent that the generations that followed, would keep this treasure of principles that would mark a difference between God’s people, and the wicked and gentiles.
The Holy Scriptures is a conglomerate of laws established by our creator. Some believe and give value to these laws, but many more underestimate and drift away from this road, as anything of little value. We must also understand that not having knowledge of it does not serve as an excuse against the fault of being offenders of God’s law: “If anyone sins and does what is forbidden in any of the Lord’s commands, even though they do not know it, they are guilty and will be held responsible” (Lev 5:17). Paraphrasing this we know that if anyone sins unnoticing and break anything of what God’s commandments ban, is guilty and will suffer the consequences of his sin. They simply made an infringement and sinned against God.
To this huge affirmation, that even those who sin without knowing receive a punishment, how much more those who sin willingly and knowing what is contained in the word of God? Whether they understand it or not, they will be culprits worthy of condemnation. Yes my beloved friend, and those of us who call ourselves believers, we must also live plainly conscious of God’s inescapable judgment to all human beings.
Satan’s punishment
The devil knows that his years are counted and that God’s judgment over him and his horde of demons, that did not conserve their dignity in heaven, will come soon. Satan knows that God is the only one worthy of honor, glory, and fear, and that the final hour is near. He knows the day will come when his empire will be destroyed along with the system that he created (with God’s permission). Therefore, Satan looks to drag with him as many human beings as he can, to be condemned along with him.
If there is a judgment, there is also a punishment, and God established it: “Listen! The Lord is calling to the city – and to fear your name is wisdom – ‘Heed to the rod and the One who appointed it” (Mic 6:9). Read closely, the Bible says God’s voice is calling to the city. Yes, at the park, in the streets, through the radio, in the bus, through CDs and DVDs, from person to person, etc. There are multiple ways, in season and out of season God continues to speak, and says: “Repent, then and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out…” (Acts 3:19). Believe it or not, the Bible says: “ And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown…then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire…Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire” (Rev 20:10,14,15).
My beloved brother and reader: Are you sure your name is written in the book of life? Is your life like Jesus’s? Because the believer must live as Jesus did. Listen to Jesus Christ’s calling before it is too late. May god bless you, Amen. Maranatha!
