“From the end of the earth I will cry to you whenever my heart is
overwhelmed. Place me on the rock that’s too high for me. For you have been
a refuge for me, a tower of strength before the enemy. Let me make my home
in your tent forever; let me hide under the shelter of your wings. Selah” (Psm
61:2-4); sharing a moment with a young old friend, told me, “Faith, is a grand
treasure any man could have…”, to which I, logically, agreed with an Amen.
The common man, the one that doesn’t know God nor His son Jesus, the one
that lives in a materialistic world and is skeptic about God’s powers, thus
ignorant to the grandeurs of His wonderful promises made by our Savior Jesus
Christ, toils himself in leaving his descendants with materialistic good, such as
scientific knowledge for a better future, or money/economy for a comfortable
and pleasing life in a world influenced by marketing and this leads to an
imprisonment of the consuming spirit. Others, focus in the immortalization of
a family by believing that their inheritance is the honor of a last name to which
give them height in society, not realizing that doing this they transfer to one
generation to the other the same curse that the devil uses to chain their lives to
this imprisoning world and system. With this said, I’m not against the
responsible attitude of parents that work themselves in leaving an inheritance
and bestowing on their descendants values, for which it’s biblical: “For the
children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.”(2
Cor 12:14) but of course, this is good, for there are irresponsible parent that
don’t do anything for their descendants. Returning to the point of matter, if
there is something grand, divine, useful for everything, is to inherit to our
children the faith, though we must recognize that the faith is a gift, but as
humans we must work to bestow this precious treasure to our children through
“audio visual”, just like the Lord Jesus would say to the Hebrews, “Therefore
you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind
them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your
house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your
gates”(Deut 11:18-20). The administration of the true believer must affect its
descendants, it must leave an inerasable mark in the children’s minds, just like
in Timothy’s case, a beloved disciple of Paul; the apostle made Timothy to
remember his grandmother and mother who engraved in his mind examples of
genuine faith, let’s read: “when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is
in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice,
and I am persuaded is in you also”(2 Tim 1:5). Notice and observe the
sequence, Lois worked to inherit to her daughter Eunice true faith, and Eunice
with great care inherit to his son Timothy the same divine power that allowed
him, with God’s help, to become a beloved disciple of Saint Paul, who refers
to him as, “For I have no one like-minded, who will sincerely care for your
state. For all seek their own, not the things which are of Christ Jesus. But you
know his proven character”(Phil 2:20-22).
The power of faith turns a man into an extraordinary being, capable of
controlling, with God’s help, his emotions and to have a better vision of life.
Not only he is capable of being calm in the turbulence of life but also reach
peace in the middle of the torment. A man of faith transmits peace. The faith
gives access to divine treasures, divine nature, and divine intimacy. Holy
Faith! The righteous ones will live by it, the fruits of the faith (good deeds)
won’t be force, but spontaneously flow as the side of effect of God’s Spirit in
the believer.
May God help us and provide us with that treasure. Amen.
