Love is popular, we see it in books, poems, soap operas, and everyone talks
about it; it’s so popular that it’s incomprehensible to understand the true divine
meaning of love. But what’s reflected is the selfishness and pleasure of receiving
someone’s affection, exploiting the sentiments and services of someone. The
problem of love, the way humans love -the begotten of the satanic pride (to be shine
more than other)-, causes an individual to become blind to rights of others, nor
suffers necessities, nor knows self-sacrifice, they only focus in exploiting benefits
of others. They have no consideration of someone’s weakness and are relentless to
judge, demanding righteousness something they are not capable of doing. They
become irritated by the mistakes of others, just to end up lonely and become one
more egotism, without friends and distrusting everyone and everything, even their
own shadow. And this so-called love, that rules the sexual drive-“Eros”-of men and
women, only pretends to meet the demands of a unilateral pleasure, regardless of
the harm that would cause along the way. But this love affects other values of love,
-“filial”-, the love between parents and their children, and siblings, to which even
circumstantially serve one another demanding attention and caresses just for
themselves; but the most tragic part of this type of love -through the diverse
religions that say to love God- take advantage their benefits and try to explode the
creator and his provision, without understanding the value of love.
Now, understanding what we called love, let’s review what is true love,
according to the eloquent examples given by the creator. First of all, love means to
give, to let someone have something, to hand over; notice, when God gave us life
and later gave Adam all the creation for Adam to enjoy and administer it. In
addition, God gave Adam a friendship by placing him like the crown of creation,
and gave him the knowledge of live and freedom. This evidence demonstrates
God’s love, in giving “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his
life for his friends”(Jn 15:13). Now let’s look at what it means to give one’s life for
someone? Life translate to: my time, my rights, my efforts, my capabilities, my
will, my understanding, my sentiments, what I have, and what I am, and I give it for
the benefit of someone else… This seem impossible! This is precisely what God
manifested when He gave the life of His son for salvation of His love, that’s you and
me. “As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love”(v
9). It’s deduce that love doesn’t originate from mankind, but from a divine
bestowment through the Holy Spirit, because the essence and nature of God is love.
How to know if love is in me? First, “If ye love me, keep my commandments”(Jn
14:15). This means that the love towards God is translated into obedience.
Secondly, the love among each other: “We love him, because he first loved us. If a
man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his
brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this
commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also”
(1 Jn.4:19-21). Regrettably, the love that is lived in churches is similar to the love
that is lived by the world, “wanting to shine more than others”, seeking their own
glories, converting the church into a battlefield, in where lies, anger, jealousy,
struggle, and even slander exist; rotting the soul and the destruction of unity thus
loosing peace. “From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not
hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill,
and desire to have, and cannot obtain”(Jas.4:1-2). We have seen what true love is,
but there’s a bigger challenge and that is to “Love your enemies, bless them that
curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use
you, and persecute you That ye may be the children of your Father”(Mat 5:44-45).
Can we truly love them?
Beloved brothers and sister, let’s supplicate the true love that come from God, so
we may be unction with the glorious spirit and truly love unconditionally and
without reproach. We’ll be able to forgive, understand others, and be free, thus
being happy for eternally. Beloved brother and sister, let’s love each other, because
this is what God’s will. Amen.
